Five years ago, we flung dough-throwing chaos into the world with Bake’N Switch, our previous fully in-house developed and published title before Upin & Ipin Universe. It was colorful. It was chaotic. It was proudly ours. And most importantly, it marked a milestone for Streamline, a bold declaration that we don’t just support incredible games, we make them too.
Fast forward to today, and we’re standing at the edge of another milestone. With the release of Upin & Ipin Universe, we’ve once again brought a dream to life, this time in collaboration with Les’ Copaque. But make no mistake, this is a Streamline game through and through. Developed in-house, crafted with Unreal Engine 5, and built on the same pillars that brought Bake’N Switch to life: creativity, collaboration, and commitment to delivering the promise.
While these two titles may seem worlds apart, one a frantic party brawler, the other an expansive open-world adventure, they share a common DNA. Both are powered by our passion to create culturally rooted, globally engaging experiences. Both reflect our deep belief in the potential of IP from the Global South. And both were made possible by our growing, diverse teams across Malaysia and Colombia.
As we look back on the launch of Bake’N Switch, we’re not just celebrating a game, we’re celebrating a journey. A journey of risk, growth, iteration, and trust. That trust, between teammates, with our communities, and with our partners, made it possible for us to evolve from crafting small-scale co-op titles to launching a large-scale RPG with a massive existing fanbase.
And yet, five years in, Bake’N Switch still holds a special place in our hearts. That’s why later this month, we’ll be commemorating its anniversary with something a little special. Keep an eye out, we’re not done baking just yet.
