Red Bull Frozen Arena: Streamline Studios and Red Bull Norway Bring a Frosty Fortnite Experience to Life

In a high-octane collaboration that brought together creativity, technology, and esports star power, Streamline Studios partnered with Red Bull Norway to create Red Bull Frozen Arena. This custom Fortnite island was designed to capture the energy, excitement, and identity of the Red Bull brand within the Fortnite universe.

A Vision in Collaboration

Working hand-in-hand with Red Bull Norway and MrSavage, Fortnite World Champion and Red Bull esports athlete, Streamline designed and developed an entirely new experience in Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). The project was built to excite longtime Fortnite players while also attracting Red Bull fans who may be new to the game, blending authentic Red Bull branding with the high-energy gameplay that defines Fortnite.

From the earliest stages, the collaboration was rooted in Red Bull’s creative vision: to bring the brand’s bold personality into the metaverse. Streamline translated that vision into an interactive, competitive experience that would resonate with the Fortnite community.

Built in UEFN — From Concept to Competition

Built entirely in UEFN in under three months, the Red Bull Frozen Arena highlights what Streamline’s experienced team can achieve. It’s proof of how a lean, skilled group can maximize UEFN’s tools to deliver world-class results. Drawing inspiration from Norway’s stunning natural and cultural landmarks, the arena features elements such as dramatic fjords, dancing northern lights, traditional turf houses, and colorful façades reminiscent of Bergen’s Bryggen district.

Streamline’s multidisciplinary team took Red Bull’s creative direction and transformed it into a fully realized digital playground. While the team utilized select existing Fortnite building blocks, significant portions of the island were handcrafted. Custom landscapes, VFX, environments, and Red Bull-branded assets were developed specifically for the project, ensuring the Red Bull identity was seamlessly integrated into every corner of the level. From frosted peaks to glowing checkpoints, the experience captures both the chill of the Nordic landscape and the intensity of competitive play.

Bringing Brand and Gameplay Together

Streamline infused the island with Easter eggs and personalized touches that would excite MrSavage's fans and the Fortnite community. These subtle nods, placed throughout the map, showcase an approach to esports and content creation that prioritizes authenticity and fan engagement.

To heighten immersion, Streamline designed custom meshes and decals that embedded Red Bull’s iconic visuals directly into the world. The result? A Fortnite experience that feels genuine.

Custom Gameplay Powered by Verse

Beyond aesthetics, Red Bull Frozen Arena introduces bespoke gameplay mechanics, powered by Verse code, that make the island truly one-of-a-kind. Streamline’s engineering team implemented a suite of custom systems, including:

• Player Class Management – Applying custom states to players throughout the map to create unique gameplay moments and strategic variety.
• Custom Power-ups – Enhancing gameplay with Red Bull–inspired boosts.
• Checkpoint and Respawn Logic – Optimized to keep the action fast-paced and competitive. 

These elements combined to deliver an experience that’s not only visually stunning but mechanically refined—a true example of how gameplay and branding can coexist seamlessly.
