"Streamline gave me the chance to try things I never thought I would get to do...It pushed me to grow in ways that go far beyond just being a 3D artist."
Hi, I’m Daniel Leong. At Streamline, I look after projects on both the creative and management side, and I also spend a lot of time guiding artists in their career paths, helping them level up both technically and artistically.
An Eye-Opening Start
Working here has been an eye-opener. Streamline gave me the chance to try things I never thought I would get to do. I jumped into different game genres, learned new engines, and experimented with all kinds of creation software. It pushed me to grow in ways that go far beyond just being a 3D artist.
From Playing Games to Studying Them
I have been a gamer since I was a kid, starting from the Game Boy all the way to PC. These days I still love games, but I also spend a lot of time watching reviews and following game launches, hardware and software news such as Unreal Tech Demo and IGN updates.
When I play now, I find myself analysing things like “How did they build this environment?” or “What tech did they use to make this mechanic work?” It is a different way of looking at games, and it fuels my passion even more.
Trial and Error That Builds Strength
"We have to be ready, creative, and critical in finding solutions and dealing with challenges that come up during production"
Because of the nature of our projects, there is never just one way to achieve the desired outcome. Every project comes with different requirements, specifications, and end results. We have to be ready, creative, and critical in finding solutions and dealing with challenges that come up during production. Sometimes this means experimenting and firefighting issues, but every trial and error becomes a chance to grow.
We Never Walk Alone
"Teamwork is at the core of how we work."
In production, one thing is clear: we never walk alone. Teamwork is at the core of how we work. When a task feels too tough or even out of scope, the solution is always discussed and executed together as a team. Knowing that there is always support and collaboration makes it possible to take on challenges that would otherwise feel overwhelming.
Discovering What You’re Really Good At
One of the best things about Streamline is how it encourages us to find our strengths. Maybe you start out as a 3D artist but along the way realize you are better suited as a material artist. Here, that kind of shift is possible. You are not stuck in one lane, and you are encouraged to explore.
Not every studio gives you that freedom. At Streamline, as long as you put in the work, there is always room to grow.
Coaching, Not Spoon-Feeding
"For artists who are hungry to learn, I ask questions like “What do you think the problem is?”"
I also enjoy mentoring other artists. Everyone is different, so I try to adapt.
- For artists who are hungry to learn, I ask questions like “What do you think the problem is?” or “What solution would you try?” This way they learn to figure things out on their own.
- For artists who feel stuck, I like to have honest conversations about their career goals. Sometimes simply asking “Is this really the path you want?” helps them find clarity.
It is not about telling them what to do. It is about helping them discover their own direction.
Space to Grow, Space to Dream
Looking back, I realize Streamline gave me more than just projects to work on. It gave me space to grow, space to explore, and space to mentor others.
If there is one thing I have learned here, it is this:
If you are willing to put in the effort, there is a place for you at Streamline to grow and chase your ambitions.
